so, the power went out at MIT today - kinda funny since MIT has its own power plant and all. I'm going to Deer Island tomorrow, the city of boston's sewage treatment plant. I think it will be exciting. I have a few new pictures and I will add them here as time allows. we almost got a 22 foot sail boat, but I don't think we did. that is all for now, I will add to this message later

check out my dorm's video of this year: East Campus I3 Video 2004 You might need to install DivX (the free codec) Here is the I3 webpage The ant farm exploded and got dirt and ants all over my room. I'm back at home now for spring break - it's warm - ya!

So, I now have a 10 foot long ant farm in my room - and the ants are digging away. It has been 4 days now and they've dug around two feet down. I've been feeding them sugar water and jam, although I should probably find some real fruit and throw that in too. My desk and bed are now under a canopy to protect against the dust from the holes that I'm trying to drill in the ceiling. I'm trying to mount the giant projector there. The dust got past the sheets, however and the last two days I have been sleeping on the floor. I got a really cool air 1/3HP air pump from reuse yesterday which has been the object of much time wasting recently. I'm trying, successfully albeit painfully slowly, to install Athena (the MIT computer station OS) onto my computer in Virtual PC. My motivation for schoolwork has recently has dropped due to all the cool stuff that I'm working on now (ant farm, air pump, projector, athena, building chairs, etc...). I had a Bio test today that I rocked - I only went to lecture the first week for the class. I really should have taken the AP test and tried to pass out. My speakers from the speaker building class in IAP are still in the woodshop - I have to go finish them up sometime. I'm going to race Damon after spring break to cape cod on a bike. I biked for 4 hours a day for 4 days straight before I got overwhelmed with schoolwork. I need to start something up again like that - soon. Bill Gates gave a talk here a week ago - pretty interesting to see him for real. Also, Darryl Hammond and Colin Quinn (SNL) did a stand-up show, which was great. Colin Quinn yells too much. I put Danny's hair up into a mohawk and cut out some letters which got into The Tech:

Bavetta.com is falling in ratings! I'm now number two in a search for bavetta! here are some more pictures from IAP. I switched rooms to a much more spacious luxury room down the hall, closer to the kitchen, so I smell cookies down the hallway right now. Glassblowing was cool,

I made a few paperweights, a few glasses, and a slug/glass/blob thing. Welding was cool, the instructor Toby says that there will continue to be sessions for which we can come in and weld things from now on - cool. My speakers from speakerbuilding are not done - I have to get my lazy butt to the hobby shop to finish them up. check out the pictures. I built a workbench

My classes now are officially:
7.013 - Bio
8.022 - Advanced E&M
18.02 - Multi Var Calc
18.03 - Diffy Eq

Hopefully I'll post updates more often from now on out.....

It snowed mad amounts of snow while I was home over break. My plane back to Boston was delayed more than 1 and a half hours due to problems with getting someone to drive the fuel truck to the plane, but I managed to still get on my connection. IAP has been great so far; I'm taking welding, glassblowing and speaker building classes. We built a halfpipe for bad ideas, but had some problems with the joint between the two quarter pipes holding, so we mainly rode it as a quarter pipe. Here are some pictures Some other people made a pulse jet engine, an asskicking machine, and a curling rink. Danny and I won the ultimate culring championship trophy in quadruple overtime.

Here are some pictures.

The Term is now over. Finals are done and I passed my classes!! Tomorrow I will be flying home for winter break and then flying back on the 4th of January for IAP. Many things are scheduled to happen during IAP. I'm already enrolled in a crossover loudspeaker building class and a welding class, but I plan to do a lot more, like work at the East Campus' own bad ideas competition and participate in the mystery hunt.

My classes for next term are looking like this:
3.094 - "Materials in Human Experience" - archeology
7.013 - "Introductory Biology" - biology concentrating on dna and genetics stuff
8.022 - "Physics II" - the physics 2 advanced edition
13.001 - "Measuring the Ocean" - throw test buoys in the water
18.02 - "Calculus" - multivar calc

I'll give the links to the class webpages as classes start and the webpages are available. I may switch out of the archeology class to another archeology class - we'll see...

Here are some pictures from the hall camping trip this weekend: HERE
It was nice weather (execpt for this morning, when it rained pretty hard) and we went on a rather long day hike and spent the nights at Camelot, the MIT cabin in New Hampshire without running water.
Here is a real cool page danny down the hall made
